I think I am on the verge of becoming an honorary Texan!  Let’s rewind back to my first arrival to Texas in March and I asked my co-worker Mandee Montana from Mix 93.1 and she said I had to do the following…

  1. Catch and hold a Bass fish
  2. Attend the Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival
  3. Have a Lone Star Beer

So far I got 2 out of the 3, but I want to talk about this past weekend of fun with my sister station KNUE for their 4th Annual Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival that took place in downtown Tyler on the square.

My music taste has expanded throughout the years.  I love R&B, Gospel, Jazz, and House just to name a few.  However, I am no stranger when it comes to country music.  I am a fan of Randy Travis, Alabama, Florida Georgia Line, etc.  So to actually experience a live country music festival was a something new and as a added bonus I got to eat a lot of BBQ.

Outside of the music the Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival has more than 20 of the best BBQ restaurants in Texas and they give samples of their food.  You can tell by the photos that the people had a great time and there were some experienced participants of Red Dirt in attendance.  This reminds me of the Taste of Chicago during the summertime in Chicago and if you haven't experienced that you definitely need to put that on your TO DO LIST!

So, after having a really dope time at Red Dirt over the weekend I am definitely going back next year and I am looking forward to Hot 107-3 Jamz "Friends & Family" Event w/ The Tyler Juneteenth Association - June 17th downtown Tyler on the square.

Scheduled to preform is SILK, CUPID, AND LJ ECHOLS.  Mark your calendar and join us for this event that's full of great family fun.

Now, where can I get that Lone Star Beer.....
