Minnesota Vikings star running back and Palestine native Adrian Peterson is a loving father who disciplined his child and was charged for it. Thursday night, Adrian turned himself in to the Montgomery County authorities and released on $15,000 bail. He has been deactivated for Sunday's game and indicted on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child.

The NFL released a statement saying:

his indictment follows Adrian’s full cooperation with authorities who have been looking into this matter. "Adrian is a loving father who used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son. He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in east Texas. Adrian has never hidden from what happened.

Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning It is important to remember that Adrian never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury."

I so hate this, because here we have a father who is actually standing up and being a man attempting to teach discipline to his child. Adrian has indicated that he was raised the same way, as I was too, and I must say that both Adrian and I turned out good.
This whole process goes wrong when children feel like they can call the police on their parents. Granted, some parents DO abuse their children, but when discipline in the form is done with love, there is a different result. I will continue to keep Adrian and his family in my prayers.
