Winter has definitely made its presence known here in East Texas thanks to yesterday's wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain and some light snow. The mess that fell from the skies yesterday caused a ton of delays and cancellations for schools to businesses. Now comes word that more winter weather is in the forecast for East Texas with a posted Winter Storm Warning.

The National Weather Service out of Shreveport has placed the northern and central counties of East Texas under a Winter Storm Warning and the southern counties remain under a Winter Weather advisory.

The Winter Storm Warning includes the cities of Tyler, Longview, Marshall and areas to the north, and will go into effect at midnight tonight and will remain posted until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The approaching storm will have the potential of producing up to four inches of snow locally in some areas. It will also have a mixture of sleet and snow once it begins and will change over to all snow. Sleet accumulations are expected to be less than a quarter of an inch while snow accumulations could top out at four inches.

The NWS says this will begin to affect the East Texas area after midnight and will wrap up Wednesday afternoon.

We'll keep you updated on changing winter weather conditions through the KLTV StormTracker 7 Weather team and will update any school closings or delays for Wednesday here on our website.
