Thanks to the power of technology, Allen Zderdad was able to see the love of his life for the first time in more than a decade.

Zderdad, a 68-year-old man from Minnesota who is a patient at the renowned Mayo Clinic, became the 15th person to receive a bionic eye implant -- and the result is truly heartwarming.

Zderad was a chemist whose career ended about 20 years ago after his sight started to fail as a result of a degenerative eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa,

He can't see completely, but he can make out forms and shapes of people. And when he finally gets a glimpse of Carmen, his wife of 45 years, you'll definitely smile.
