Gary Kubiak was released from hospital after suffering a transient ischemic heart attack Sunday before halftime of the Texans game last Sunday.

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will take over the head coach reins while Kubiak recovers.

He will call the defensive plays while offensive coordinator Rick Dennison will handle the offense for their matchup against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday.

Phillips is no stranger to this role as he served interim coaching stints in New Orleans in 1985 and again in 2003 with the Atlanta Falcons.

He has also been a head coach with the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills and most recently the Dallas Cowboys, where he was fired in 2010.
