Drew Pace, a 22-year-old Tyler man, was released from jail early Friday morning, only to be arrested a few hours later for breaking into a building at East Texas Medical Center.

According to media reports, Pace was released from Smith County Jail at 12:56 a.m. Friday (Aug. 23) morning after being booked on a possession of marijuana charge.

At 2:56 a.m., the Tyler Police Department was notified that someone had broken into ETMC's Marketing Services Building at 815 S. Beckham Ave. in Tyler.

When police arrived ETMC security had already detained Pace, who was found to be covered in blood and had cuts on his arms and legs. Police believe he was injured after shattering a large window to get into the building.

Pace was treated by paramedics and was booked back into Smith County Jail at 6:20 a.m. Friday morning. He was charged with burglary of a building and is being held on a $10,000 bond.

Jail records show that Pace also was arrested Aug. 8 for theft and back in June on the same charge.
