Detroit police have captured two men allegedly involved in the murder of up-and-coming rapper Dex Osama. The 21-year-old rhymer, whose real name is Byron Cox, was shot and killed outside of a strip club in Detroit on Sept. 7.

The two suspects, Dietrick Odums and Otis Davis, appeared at a hearing on Friday (Oct. 23) where the Osama’s stripper girlfriend, Chantell Sturdivant, recalls the night the rapper was killed. According to her testimony, Osama told her she couldn’t give a mutual friend a lap dance.

"A young lady tapped me and said, Jeff wants you to dance for him. As I went to the booth to dance, I looked at Byron and he gave me a signal, like waving his hands telling me no, I couldn't dance with him," Sturdivant told the courts (via Fox 2 Detroit).

Afterward, Osama poured champagne on Sturdivant's head and told her to get dressed. Soon after, she heard gunfire.

Odums is facing an assault with intent to murder charge and Davis is charged with open murder. Odums' attorney, Marlon Evans, maintains that his client didn't shoot Osama and was only present at the scene of the incident. Meanwhile, Davis' attorney, Todd Perkins, had no comment on the matter.

Another hearing is scheduled for next Friday (Oct. 30) where District Judge Kenneth King will determine whether the defendants will go to trial on the aforementioned felony charges.
