R&B legend Marvin Gaye was one of the hottest sex-symbols of the 70's and early 80's! His success began in the 60's. This song, Distant Lover was a song he performed with major passion. When you watch this video of his Soul Train performance, notice the tears in his eyes as he sings to the audience. Also notice how he connects to them by holding their hands. Marvin was an excellent performer because he sang with no glossy sets, or flashy outfits. It was him, a stage, a mic, and his beanie. RIP Mr. Marvin Gaye. Your music will always live on!

In 1987, Marvin Gaye Jr. was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was also honored by Hollywood's Rock Walk in 1989 and was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1990. In 2005, Marvin Gaye Jr. was admitted into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame. In 2007, two of Gaye's most important recordings, "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" and "What's Going On", were voted Legendary Michigan Songs.
