Texas Official Refuses to Resign After Making Racist Comments

June 30 will be a big day for the city of La Marque, Texas. Connie Trube, a two-term La Marque City Council Member made racist comments in a private conversation that just happened to be recorded.

Trube can be heard saying the following on the recording:

"It's not going to get any better until you get those blacks off the school board. She really turned black. She got on the school board with the rest of the blacks and they all just ganged up and that's why the school system has gone to hell."

A meeting was held and Trube was asked to step down by the citizens, but she refuses stating that she stands behind her comments and that is truly how she feels. Mayor Bobby Hocking stated, "Racism will not be tolerated on any level in the city of La Marque."
