With all the heat, a number of warnings and advisories have been issued for the week. Here's a quick breakdown of what they mean.

July was a pretty hot month, but not the hottest it’s ever been. Saturday is the anniversary of the hottest temperature ever recorded in Tyler.

We've finally reached that point in our East Texas summer where we start hearing about the heat advisories seemingly on a daily basis.

Hotter days and lack of rain is taking its toll on East Texas.

Running out of the house to get the mail is an adventure this time of year.  It's so hot right now that our bare feet on sidewalks will make us do that quick tip-toe dance that kind of looks like we're trying to sneak up on someone, and also looks a little like Elaine's dance from the TV show Seinfeld. This just in -- hot concrete hurts your dog's feet too!

It doesn't officially have to be 'summer' for it to get hot in Texas.  On any typical day it can get hot and can kill kids and animals that are locked in cars with the windows up. The message is repeated over and over again when it comes to kids or animals being locked in a car with the windows rolled up on a hot day.  They can die from heat exhaustion in this situation.

Texas has 15 of the 30 hottest cities in the US, with more than 100 days each year above 90. Ouch! The hottest city in America has average temps of 106 in July.  Any guess what city that is?  And see what Tyler's average summer temp should be.

There are only two states that will avoid a summer that's hotter than heck, and Texas is not one of them.  Midwest vacation, anyone?

After the first games of the NBA playoffs wrapped up this weekend, it was pretty clear that the two top seeds deserve their places.
