2012 Election

People say lots of things after the election when the feelings are still raw from the loss suffered by their candidate, but when has it gone too far? Well, Denise Helms from California is now under investigation for making a racist comment on her Facebook page that was followed by a statement the U.S. Secret Service takes very seriously.

With the passing of Proposition 2, Tyler is now able to sell beer and wine for off premises consumption. This landmark decision was hard to swallow for some that stood against the proposition. What could be the silver lining for the few who opposed the measure? Money.

Based on my Facebook news feed, not many Texans are happy this morning. But I think we can all agree two great things happened last night: 1. Smith County residents voted overwhelmingly in favor to legalize beer and wine sales for off-premise consumption within city limits. 2. It appeared Diane Sawyer was buzzin' hard during the election coverage.

The city of Tyler outlawed alcohol sales in 1901. In 1909, the city voted again to remain dry. Ten years later, the 18th amendment prohibited alcohol sales across the nation. Prohibition ended in 1933, but Tyler chose to remain dry and has been ever since. Until now.

As the poll results continue to trickle in, I am getting more and more excited. As an adult with rights to adult decisions and choices, it will be a great to go to my neighborhood grocery store for my dinner's wine selection instead of 30 minutes away. There are some that are upset with this, but is it their right to take away my right to choose for myself?
