East Texas has been enjoying unseasonably nice weather over the past week, but that's all about to change.

Temperatures will go from the upper 70s back down to more seasonable upper 50s by Sunday. With this change the StormTracker 7 Weather Center meteorologists are predicting we all could be in for a round of severe weather Saturday night into Sunday morning with an approaching cold front.

Rainfall totals could be as much as three inches in parts of East Texas, and with the ground already saturated from previous rainfall, this could lead to flash flooding issues throughout the area.

Rain is expected to begin Saturday afternoon and continue through mid-day Sunday. The approaching storms have potential to bring strong damaging winds, thunderstorms with lightning and a stray isolated tornado can't be ruled out.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued an alert for East Texas calling for a marginal risk for a few severe storms to move through the area, which should be cleared out by Sunday afternoon leaving behind much cooler temperatures and windy conditions with temperatures falling in to the mid to upper 50s.

Once this system clears out, there's another one expected in East Texas on Tuesday and Wednesday that will bring more showers and much cooler air into the Piney Woods.
