We learned earlier today (November 12) of the passing of Stan Lee. In that time, I've had a few tears to shed. Some will think that's a bit over the top for someone I didn't know personally or for someone that I've never even been in the same room with.

You are wrong.

Stan Lee meant a lot.

He did more than create some of the most iconic characters in comics. He made being different or weird or the odd guy in the corner something to be proud of.

That is why Stan Lee is a hero to me. I am that guy who is different or is weird or is the odd guy in the corner. And thanks to Stan Lee, I am proud of it.

I'm 41 years old, single, no kids, collect action figures, play video games and do other things that "an adult" would normally not do. But then, I've been like this my whole life.

Why do I bring this up? Look at what Stan Lee has done. His imagination gave us Spiderman, Fantastic 4, Avengers and many more. He took his, for lack of a better term, nerdness and brought it to us and made it cool.

Stan Lee is a real life superhero. Sure, he didn't have powers like his characters on their pages but he was larger than life. He made sure to greet his fans. He made sure to bring a smile to everyone's face. He made sure we believed. Just like a superhero would.

Stan Lee, thank you for living your life your way. Thank you for a being a hero to not only me but so many others. Rest in peace good man.

Excelsior!
