He was one of the most famous television fathers of his time, and he became another in a line of TV legends we've lost in 2012. Sherman Hemsley, made famous from his role as George Jefferson in 'The Jeffersons,' has died at age 74.

TMZ is reporting Hemsley died at his home in El Paso. He was not married and had no children. It is currently unclear how he died.

Hemsley struck TV gold from his role in "All in the Family," but even moreso when the show spun off into "The Jeffersons," which lasted 11 seasons on CBS.

Who could ever forget the "George Jefferson Dance?" Rest in peace, Sherman. Our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family.
