Someone had the absurd idea to file a petition to have R. Kelly's 2003 hit song 'Ignition (Remix)' become our new national anthem. Yep, you read that correctly.

The petition, which appears on the White House website, proclaims that the R&B crooner's tune is still "hot and fresh out the kitchen." The author feels that America has outgrown the Francis Scott Key-penned 1814 song and "since then, we have realized that after the show, it's the afterparty, and that after the party, it's the hotel lobby, and…" Well, you get the gist.

It's safe to say that this petition was done in jest and, honestly, it's a little humorous. So far, it's only garnered 5,000 digital signatures. More than 95,000 signatures are needed by April for Congress to even consider addressing this insane request.

Even it did reach its goal, we think Pres. Obama will mostly likely toss this petition in the trash can. Ain't nobody got time for that!

But seriously, can you imagine 'Ignition' being our national anthem? We can hear it now, "Oh say can you see / The remix to ignition / Hot and fresh out the kitchen / For the land of the free and the home of the brave."

Ugh! Please perish the thought.
