PVA&M Officially Names Street Sandra Bland

The street leading into Prairie View A&M is now officially named after Sandra Bland. Sandra graduated from PV and had accepted a job at the university last summer died in  Waller County jail.

The University Drive signs have been replaced with Sandra Bland Parkway signs on Friday with about 100 students and activist, some of her relatives were on hand for the ceremony.

Sandra Bland was 28-years-old last year when she was driving from the Chicago area when she was pulled over by a state trooper in July for making an improper lane change. She was arrested because the traffic stop became hostile and three days she died in police custody.They say it was suicide, but family members and close friends don't believe that to be true. The officer that arrested her was since been fired and charged with misdemeanor perjury in this case.
