A woman and her family were stopped at a railroad crossing in South Carolina on Oct. 23 when they saw something unbelievable: a terrified black Labrador puppy stranded on top of a train traveling at 50 mph.

Fortunately, Tina Parker acted quickly, calling 911 and alerting authorities to the situation. Once the train had stopped, firefighters used a ladder to scale the double-decker boxcar and rescue the three-month-old dog.

Parker was so taken with the poor pooch that she brought it home and gave it a fitting new name: “Boxcar Hunter,” or Boxy for short. Find out how Boxy was saved below.
