People’s Petroleum Building is More than a Tyler Landmark
Did you know that the People's Petroleum Building in Downtown Tyler is the National Historic Register located in Downtown Tyler?
The Peoples Petroleum Building opened Nov. 5, 1932, is located at 102 S. College Avenue. Developed originally by Samuel A. Lindsey, it was the largest construction job west of the Mississippi, and the tallest high-rise building in East Texas.
The building has recently been under renovation and restoration by its current owners, Garnett and Tim Brookshire and Andy Bergfeld. People's Petroleum Building is now home to energy offices, law offices and more recently Jack Ryan's Steak and Chophouse.
It was added the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, and recognized as a Tyler Historic Landmark in 2012. Experience the building by watching this informative YouTube video.
