R&B superstars Alicia Keys, Usher, Elle Varner and Jamie Foxx were among the big winners at the 2013 NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles Friday night (Feb. 1). The annual event honors achievements by African-Americans in the fields of music, television, literature and film.

Keys nabbed two trophies in the recording categories for Outstanding Female Artist and Outstanding Music Video ('Girl on Fire'). Usher won one award for Outstanding Male Artist, while Varner received a statue for Outstanding New Artist. Foxx was bestowed the Entertainer of the Year honor for his work in 'Django Unchained.'

Other winners included the late Whitney Houston, who received two posthumous honors for Outstanding Song ('I Look to You') and Outstanding Album for her greatest hits collection, 'I Will Always Love You: The Best Of Whitney Houston.'

The centerpiece of the night belonged to Gladys Knight who performed 'The Way We Were' during a moving In Memoriam tribute to artists and celebrities that passed away within the past year.
