Social media has been a buzz after veteran actor Morgan Freeman’s name was added to the list of well-known actors who have been accused of sexual harassment and his legacy could be tarnished after SAG-AFTRA is reconsidering the actors Lifetime Achievement Award.

CNN report, eight women have accused Freeman of sexual misconduct. The network spoke the 16 women about the alleged harassment and they mentioned multiple incidents over several decades.

SAG-AFTRA gave Freeman the Lifetime Achievement Award in January and issued a statement to US Weekly on Thursday (May 24th).

These are compelling and devastating allegations which are absolutely contrary to all the steps that we are taking to ensure a safe work environment for the professions in this industry. Any accused person has the right to due process, but it is our starting point to believe the courageous voices who come forward to report incidents of harassment. Given Mr. Freeman recently received one of our union’s most prestigious honors recognizing his body of work, we are therefore reviewing what corrective actions may be warranted at this time.

Mr. Freeman has denied all allegations against him and apologized saying he wouldn’t intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy.
