It seems like a waste of time to make too many improvements on yourself, your home, or your city if the end is coming. If the Mayan prediction of Dec. 21, 2012 has been interpreted correctly, no one will be around afterward to see any changes made today or tomorrow. But, what if we survive (because you know we will)? What would change in our fair city of Tyler?

If given the allowance of fulfilling all your wildest dreams for this city, what would be different December 22?

Surviving a prophesy of doom would surely evoked a heightened drive for improvement. Ensuring Tyler, Texas, grows to its full potential would become top priority. well, after we all cheered and hugged our loved ones. Everyone will have a different wish list for the transformation, but some things will be agreed upon across the board.

Better living conditions, money for schools, support for community groups, and city beautification are all good causes. Keep in mind, though, that we all just survived impending destruction and death. We might want some more entertainment and night life to truly celebrate that we are still here. A good wish list for Tyler's change would include a little of both kinds of redesign.

Here is my list of modifications.

1. Dog Park

Wouldn't it be great to have a place were all of our furry pups could run and play? With a city of more than 100,000 people, this has always been one of Tyler's biggest shortfalls.

2. More Art Galleries and Shops

Tyler has a wealth of talented artists and not too many places for them to show off their goods.

3. Better Road Systems

Tyler's traffic (especially during adverse weather conditions) on the roads is horrible. It would be great to drive around with a little less stress.

4. Alamo Drafthouse

Watching a movie with food and great drinks would be an amazing way to enjoy a Saturday night.

5. More Shopping Choices

Fresh By Brookshire's is a great store, but there are other places that also bring a whole different kind of grocery store experience. And especially with Tyler going wet from November's election, we could all use an excellent selection of beer and wine. With a little competition, all of our grocery stores might lower their prices and raise the quality and variety of their products.
