Just last month, Kanye West and Jay-Z‘s collaboration, ‘Watch the Throne,’ set an iTunes record by selling 290,000 units in the first week after its release.

But since records are made to be broken, that’s exactly what Lil Wayne did. His ‘Tha Carter IV’ album was downloaded 300,000 times in just four days, setting an impressively high standard — especially since it was not sold exclusively through iTunes, like ‘Watch the Throne’ was.

Better still, the album is expected to sell more than 850,000 digital and physical copies overall, giving it the biggest ever first-week sales for a male artist since Lil Wayne’s own ‘Tha Carter III’ dropped a little more than three years ago.
