Joss Whedon is open about his politics, never one to shy away from letting us all know whom he supports for this upcoming election. Just last week, he and a few of his Avenger pals posted a PSA to launch his new organization Save the Day, urging Americans to make sure they’re registered to vote. On Friday, Whedon also hosted a Facebook Live chat to promote Save the Day, in which he answered some fan questions, including which of the Avengers he’d pick to run the country.

“I’m probably going to have to go with Hawkeye,” Whedon said. “There’s a man who is grounded. He not only has family values, he has a family. He has an actual family. He actually interacts with human people in a normal way. He has children he wants to protect. Every other Avenger, let’s face it: They’re a little out there. A little bit disconnected from the real world.”

Whedon is probably right, especially since no one knows his team of Avengers better than he does. Black Widow obviously wouldn’t qualify since wasn’t born in the U.S. (not to mention the fact that she was an assassin who kind of murdered people at one point, a fact that voters would probably at least side-eye). Thor also wasn’t born here, and he has another realm to keep an eye on anyway. Captain America does have the word “America” right there in his name, but he’s the kind to shun the office even if it was offered to him, protesting that there’s probably someone out there who’s better for the job.

As for the others?

“Definitely don’t want Tony Stark to be president,” Whedon said. “He may be the smartest guy there, and although I love Bruce Banner, I’m thinking, you know, again, as we’ve seen in this election cycle, somebody with a really bad temper is not maybe the best choice.”
