It's sad that someone would get mad over a damn cookie.

Over the July 4th holiday weekend, a Katy Mills Mall Great American Cookies employee purchased an order, with his own money, for an on duty police officer according to foxnews.com.

A very respectable act for this young man.

However, a family in line behind the officer became angry with the unnamed employee because he wouldn't buy their order.

Really people. Ugh! It doesn't say what the officer ordered, probably just a cookie which is what, a couple of bucks, to show his appreciation for the officer's service to the community. And someone gets upset because they couldn't get something for free themselves.

The mother of the employee, writing on Facebook, says that a woman threatened to "slap him" and a man, who had a child with him, tried to "come behind the counter to attack" the employee. Read the full account below.

The employee was initially suspended for one week for the incident.

Biju George, the owner and operator of the store issued a statement to the Houston Chronicle about the handling of incident.

"On behalf of Great American Cookies Katy Mills, we owe the employee an apology. It was never an issue that he purchased a brownie for a police officer, but rather the events that unfolded with another customer in line at the time. However, after further review, we realize that the employee was in fact in the right and we continue to reach out to him and his mom to issue an apology. The corrective action and suspension was reversed immediately and we hope to connect with him today."

David Kaiser, who is the executive vice president of Great American Cookies issued this statement as well.

"Great American Cookies proudly supports Law Enforcement, First Responders and all who serve our country. Though our stores are independently managed and operated, when the situation first arose, we reached out to the franchisee to ensure that the situation was addressed and handled appropriately."

According to the mother of the employee, he said he would do it again in a heartbeat.

Kudos dude. And to the family that became angry over the situation, your move was classless.
