February is Black History Month and while we're celebrating the contributions of many African-American men and women I would like to take time out to recognize the contributions of our local East Texans. That's why I decided to do a highlight special called “East Texas Legends” to honor the many famous East Texans you may know in person or through our history.

As you listen to Hot 107-3 Jamz, you'll hear promos about the many contributions of notable African American East Texans. The goal is to uplift and inspire after seeing what we've done to excel in sports, entertainment, and politics.

We still have notable East Texans to cover like George Foreman, Forest Whitaker, and Carl Gardner - so stick around for the next East Texas Legend and learn about the "Country Boy" from Tyler Texas that shook up the Gospel Music industry with his famous high energy performances I present to you Willie Neal Johnson.
