High School Graduate Receives Full Ride To Yale University

Michelle Canaan is having a wonderful Mother’s Day!  Her 18-year-old daughter Davornne Lindo has graduated from High School and received a full scholarship to Yale University in the fall.

WTVM reports, Lindo was checking email for status updates on her application and was shocked to learn that the student from Phenix City, Alabama was going to the Ivy League college.

It said status update, and I said 'Oh, let me open this rejection letter.' I opened it with the intentions of getting rejected and it said Welcome!

Davornne was three-months-old when her mother came to America from Jamaica to give her daughter a better way of life and throughout her academic career, she has received nothing less than an ‘A.’

Her grandmother said she has never gotten into trouble and was always optimistic about getting done.

Davornne plans on majoring in Political Science with the aspirations of becoming a Senator one day and with the full support of her family she is ready to take on this challenge.
