Gilmer Celebrates The Yam

If you're looking to have some fun with your family this weekend and looking for carnival rides, parades, livestock shows and a place where they celebrate the yam - you need to head to Gilmer!  The 75th annual East Texas Yamboree runs through Saturday and concludes with the barn dance Saturday evening on the square in downtown Gilmer.

Yamboree Queen elect Mary Paige Linder invites all East Texans out to experience what Gilmer has to offer and to have fun on the carnival rides and to enjoy a ton of activities that celebrate the might yam!  Events include yam pie contest, yam contest, performances from area school bands, steer and dairy livestock contests and sales, quilt show, live music and of course food and more.

This year, Slammin Dixie, Granger Smith and Reckless Kelly will be headlining the barn dance Saturday night on the square.
