On Wednesday (February 21), hundreds of students from across the country walked out of their schools in protest for safer schools after the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. 17 people were murdered while the survivors have spoken out in fury while other students stood with them in solidarity.

USA Today reports former U.S. President Barack Obama praised the young people for taking a stand against gun violence and even expressed his support by saying “We’ve got your backs.”  The former Commander in Chief said he said it was inspiring to watch young adults standing for their right to be safe.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama weighed in on here support as well:

President Trump spoke to his second survivor session today and suggested that teachers should carry firearms in their classrooms and should be paid a bonus. He also mentions that a potential shooter would think twice about coming into a school with armed teachers.
