It's a sad day in the lone star state as Former First Lady Barbara Pierce Bush passed away today (April 17th) surrounded by her family in her Houston Home at the age of 92.

The New York Times report, family spokesman Jim McGrath made the announcement via Twitter.  On Monday, the wife of the 41st president and mother of the 43rd’ health was failing and said she won’t seek further medical treatment, but instead focus on comfort care.

Former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in January which made them the longest married couple in presidential history.  Also, outside of Abigail Adams the wife of John Adams and mother of Quincy Adams she is the second woman in American history to have a son of hers follow his father to the White House.

While speaking to the Wellesley College graduating class Mrs. Bush said the following:

At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent.

Notable politicians and celebrities paid their respects via social media

She is survived by her husband George H.W. Bush, her sons George W. Bush, Jeb Bush, Marvin Bush, and Neil Bush; her daughter Dorothy Bush Koch; and grandchildren and great grand children.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bush family.
