On the one year anniversary of President Trump's Inauguration (Saturday, January 20, 2018), hundreds of thousands of women from Dallas, Houston, and Austin gathered together to protest his policies and to show their support of the #MeToo movement against sexual assault and harassment.

According to Dallas News, the worldwide protest supports the ideas of pay equality, abortion rights, and diversity - and women of East Texas, Beaumont and Nacogdoches, wanted their voices to be heard a well as they took to the streets to celebrate another major milestone.

KTRE reports that over 100 women in the area joined together to celebrate the record number of women running for the House of Representatives - a total of 390 candidates.

Protester Gabrielle Harris said in a statement:

Starting this activism and being a Democrat in Texas, I never really felt like I was the only one because, as you can see here, with the turnout that's going to happen, I've always known that I had allies and, that's why it's important for me to be an ally.

Many of the protests were peaceful except for the arrest of an anti-Trump protester in Austin. After the march in Dallas, the crowd assembled at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe to join the March for Life, which symbolized the 45th anniversary of the abortion decision of Roe vs. Wade.
