East Texas Toddler Drowns in Grandparents’ Pool

A 2-year-old East Texas girl drowned at her grandparents’ house Sunday. The drowning death occurred Sunday afternoon near Harleton at a residence on Private Road 4137 in Harrison County.

Authorities say 2-year-old Lacy Besecke was playing in her grandmother’s backyard swimming pool when her swim ring apparently fell off.

Other children playing with Lacy found her on the bottom of the pool. It’s unknown how long the child had been under water. The child’s grandmother told deputies she was watching the children play in the pool from the back porch of her house when the drowning occurred.

EMS crews arrived as CPR was being administered to Lacy inside the house. She was then transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview where she was pronounced dead.
