What day are we springing our clocks forward because of the time change? Sunday, March 13th at 2 a.m. Daylight Saving Time will officially begin. Although most of us will be setting our clocks forward one hour when we go to bed Saturday night and losing an hour of sleep instead of waiting right until 2 a.m.! Don't worry though, you'll get back that lost hour of sleep in the fall on Sunday, November 6th!

The United States isn't the only nation that observes this semi-annual event, there are 78 other countries throughout the world that observe the practice of Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving Time (DST) was created to save energy as far back as Ben Franklin in 1784! It was first introduced in 1918 during wartime and officially adopted and enacted in the United States in 1966 and ever since then we've been playing with time twice a year. Although it is set up by the federal government, states do not have to follow this practice and to this day there are two states that do not observe DST and those are Arizona and Hawaii.
