Dave East has already been honored as part of the XXL 2016 Freshman Class, and he's keeping his moment going with a new track, "Hold Me Down."

The Harlem rapper teams up with BJ the Chicago Kid on the mid-tempo song, which is the first track from MAGNUM Condom's Compound Gold Project; a three-song compilation featuring those two artists as well as Beanie Sigel, Jadakiss, Joey Bada$$ and Jim Jones. Produced by Buda Da Future and Grandz Muzik, the song shows love for the women in their lives who keeps these men grounded.

"Certified, made it it on my own / Anytime I need a ride, you pull over like a taxi / Sun dress, showing off your curves, from the burbs / But she ghetto, she been listening to Max B," Dave delivers on the mic.

Love and relationships aside, Dave finds the song to be about more than about the lady who's caught his eye.

"[The song] meant a lot to me because my definition of holding it down is taking care of my family," Dave says in a behind-the-scenes video about the track, which you can watch below. "I just had a daughter, and I was able to watch my daughter's mother give birth. So I just got whole other respect for the woman. I feel as though I have to hold them down."

The other two tracks, "Lost Ones" by Joey Bada$$ featuring Jim Jones as well as Beanie Sigel and Jadakiss' "Dinero," will be out later this summer. For more information on this project, visit thecompoundblog.com.
