Judge Allowing Chris Brown to Skip Court Date

The judge in Chris Brown's latest round of legal drama is letting him skip his hearing tomorrow.

The Huffington Post reports that Brown would have had to travel from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. for the hearing, which everyone involved pretty much dubbed pointless. Why? Because at the hearing, Brown and his attorney, Mark Geragos, are simply asking for a new court date.

We know it's hard to keep track, so we'll remind you: This particular court date is for Brown's misdemeanor assault charge. The charge stems from Brown's alleged assault on a fan who either asked for a photo or tried getting on Brown's tour bus -- their stories are markedly different, so it's unclear as of yet who's telling the truth. What is relatively certain is that someone punched the victim, Christopher Hollosy, in the face. (There are also allegations of the attack being a homophobic one, which could hurt Brown further if he's found guilty of a hate crime as well.)

Geragos says he hasn't had time to review evidence with Brown, which is why they're requesting a postponement of his next hearing. Chances are Geragos and Brown also want to go over a few other things -- like how getting kicked out of anger management rehab won't look good to probation officers!
