Well, so much for that.

According to sources for TMZ, British singer/TV personality Cheryl Cole has been fired from 'The X Factor.' The reason: Her accent was too thick.

Sources say 'X Factor' producers were "concerned her English accent would be too difficult for an American audience to understand," and thus decided to replace her with 'X Factor' co-host, Nicole Scherzinger.

The report also says that Cole's lack of chemistry with judge Paula Abdul also played a role in her getting fired.

'The X Factor,' which marks Simon Cowell's official return to American television, premieres this fall on Fox.
