Detroit Pistons Fire Coach Maurice Cheeks

Maurice Cheeks lasted eight months as the head coach of the woeful Detroit Pistons.

He was released on Sunday by Pistons GM Joe Dumars. Cheeks became Dumars' eighth coach he has fired in his 14-year tenure as GM.

No new coach has been announced yet, and it looks like the Pistons will wait until the offseason to find a full-time replacement.
