In 2015, the 84th Texas Legislature passed a law that allowed the sale of fireworks on Texas Independence Day, San Jacinto Day and Memorial Day, as long as county commissioners approve the sale each year.

Tuesday, Smith County Commissioners passed an ordinance to allow the sale of fireworks for Texas Independence Day from February 25 through March 2 according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Now, if a burn ban is in effect during this time, sales will not be allowed because of the fire danger. Check with your city to find out if fireworks can or cannot be lit inside the city limits, too.

San Jacinto Day is April 21 and Memorial Day is May 29 but no resolution has been decided as of yet for firework sales for those holidays.
