Azealia Banks Bids Farewell to Twitter for Lent
Known for her Twitter debates and ability to assassinate your favorite rapper in a mere 140 characters, Azealia Banks will be stepping away from social media for a while.
The Harlem rapper made the announcement to over 584,000 of her followers on Sunday (March 1) that she was giving up tweeting for Lent, the 40-day Christian holiday meant to bring participants closer to God by way of fasting.
Fans of her sometimes cynical and other times proactive tweets should not fret. Banks is not completely abandoning her online presence. She will still be holding down her Instagram account.
Her decision to stop using Twitter comes after her December feud with Hustle Gang rhymer Iggy Azalea, who recently left Twitter for good. The Broke With Expensive Taste creator is in the midst of preparing for her tour, which is set to kick off on April 10 at Coachella in Indio, Calif. and end at the Paradise Club in Boston on May 19.
