Upon pursuing her Bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, she was certain of three things: she would become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She would pursue a career in Communications. And she would steer clear of math at all cost. She made good on all of the above, and landed a job as a reporter for a four-state magazine based out of Texarkana, TX. After migrating to Longview by way of Texarkana, she became a freelance writer for Texas Music Magazine. A few years and a couple of jobs later, she became Volunteer and PR Manager for East Texas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). It was there, she had her first flirtatious encounter with radio as the host and producer of a 14-minute segment titled, “The Voice” on 104.5 KJTX Powerhouse Gospel. She fell in love and knew she and radio had quite a thing going on. With a passion and strong desire to utilize media as a tool to reach people, she became the Program and Community Outreach Coordinator for the City of Longview and the host of the Partners In Prevention Show on the city’s municipality channel. When opportunity came to co-host weekends on HOT 107.3 Jamz, she snatched it and hit the ground running in hot pursuit of her dream to be an on-air radio personality. Keeta is a published writer, co-founder of the Real Working Women of East Texas, community activist and a member various organizations and boards.
