R&B singer, Aaron Abernathy is back with a new single, "I See You" that was inspired by Prince.

"Lyrically, I approached 'I See You' in the way I thought the late great Prince would," said Abernathy in a press statement. "I really wanted to play with the lyrics but also invoke a feeling of wanting, feeling and just crushing on someone. We’ve all been there."

The soul-pop tune does just that as Abernathy talks about over the funky-yet soulful tune.

"I've been watching you for awhile / independent with that classic style / sex appeal that no one can manage / I can't resist / Yes, I'm so attached," he sings. "You know exactly what you're doing / So confident in the way you dress / Darling I'm so impressed."

He later tells the woman of his affections that he sees her. "Baby it's the way you walk and talk the talk / I see you," he sings in the hook.

"I See You" is the second single from Abernathy's upcoming album, Monologue. The first, "Favorite Girl," was released back in May as a tribute to his mother on Mother's day as well as to other women in the world.

Monologue will be Abernathy's return to music as his debut solo project was released in 2005. Monologue is set to drop on Oct. 3. with features from Black Milk, Deborah Bond, Phonte, Zo! and more.

It's set to "touch on family, love, purpose and music," according to the press release. And there's sure to be more funk and soul to enjoy on it as well.
