I have an announcement to make everybody.  I have had the luxury to travel to certain places, but I am beyond excited to tell you that I am going to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower this year!  Just the idea of exploring something new excites me because I am always ready to learn about new cultures and be educated on everyday way of life.

This trip to Paris will be very inexpensive, I won’t need a passport, and I can even travel from my car.   Now many of you are saying to yourself “Shawn, the only way you can get to Paris is with a passport and a flight itinerary.”  I thought the same thing until I was made aware of this little diamond in the rough.

Paris, Texas is located in the Northeast at the western edge of the Piney Woods, and it’s about 100 miles outside of Dallas, TX.  Paris was also named “Best Small Town in Texas” by Kevin Beubusch in his book “The New Rating Guide to Life in America’s Small Cities (1997).

Another thing about Paris, Texas that makes this place special is their replica of the Eiffel Tower.  From the website Only In Your State they talk about this tourist attraction that looks exactly like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, but with a twist.  It was built in 1993 and Paris, Texas claimed to be “The second largest Paris in the World" and in 1998 town boosters added a large red cowboy hat to the top of the tower.

So, after hearing about this town I talked to my buddy Jason and we are planning on taking a road trip to check out this town and get a picture of the Eiffel Tower.  We will keep you posted on when the trip takes place.
