When someone older than 17 says they are not a coffee drinker, we normally just look at them with a bit of wonder and say, "Your loss." And, we were right. Here is a list of very persuasive reasons why everyone should drink coffee to back up our argument.

I would first like to state that when I say coffee, I do not mean the double whipped-cream mocha choca syrupy mass of sugar people generally get at Starbucks. Coffee is coffee. You won't get these amazing benefits from drinking a pumpkin spice latte.

So now that we all are on the same page of what exactly constitutes coffee, let's get this countdown going. Hopefully these benefits will convince those of you "non-coffee drinkers" out there to come to the dark and roasted side.

1. Feel Happier, Less Stressed, & Lower Levels of Suicide

Seoul National University recently completed a study were they believe they have proved that just the smell of coffee can help reduce stress levels. "[T}hose who were exposed to coffee aromas experienced changes in brain proteins tied to that stress." Though this study's results come primarily from reaction to sleep deprivation, there is no definitive proof that smelling roasted coffee beans won't help lower your stress levels.

The great antioxidants in coffee have been tied to the results of a National Institute of Health study. They found that, "those who drink four or more cups of coffee were about 10 percent less likely to be depressed than those who had never touched the java."

The Harvard School of Public Health has evidence that coffee may act as a mild anti-depressant. They state that, "drinking between two and four cups of coffee can reduce the risk of suicide in men and women by about 50 percent."

So, it seems that being a coffee drinking can actually make you, all around, a happier person.

2. Smarter for Longer

It is becoming a well known belief that coffee can make you more intelligent and make your brain healthier for longer. Thus, coffee makes you smarter for longer.

The Huffington Post reported that, "coffee allows your brain to work in a much more efficient and smarter way." They continued by explaining how coffee helps keep this intelligent brain sharp through the years.

They found that the University of South Florida along with the University of Miami found that, "people older than 65 who had higher blood levels of caffeine."

Sounds like the stereo types of the average coffee shop book reader have a bit of truth to them.

Parkinson's Disease has become more and more prevalent in the past few years. It seems as though with every year that passes, more and more people are beginning to suffer from the ailment. But, coffee might be able to help.

This study has yet to be debunked since its 2006 completion. So, let's get to drinking some coffee to hopefully prevent getting this heart breaking disease.

If you have been trying all of the "super foods" containing endless amounts of antioxidants to make you healthier and live longer, were you drinking coffee too? If you haven't added coffee to your healthy life regimen, you are missing out.

Americans are getting more antioxidants from coffee than anywhere else.

Huffington Post explains, "According to a study done in 2005, "nothing else comes close" to providing as many antioxidants as coffee. " Though you may be eating all of your fruits, veggies, and taking in vitamins; the results of this study show that nothing else in being absorbed as well as coffee.

Folks, what is the hold up? Did you really need to read this entire post to become convinced of coffee benefits? Stop reading this. Go out there and get a good coffee with cream, Americano, or just a quick shot of espresso.
