Just one day after the funeral and burial of his late wife Barbara Bush former President George H.W. Bush is in intensive care with an infection per the family spokesman Jim McGarth.

The Houston Chronicle reports, he was admitted into the Houston Methodist Hospital on Sunday after the 93-year-old contracted an infection that spread to his blood.  The hospital scare drew concern from his family especially so close to the death of his wife of 73 years.  They were worried about how he would deal with her death after such an emotional week.

CNN also report he was admitted with an infection that lead to sepsis and was in critical condition and at times there was concern on whether he would survive, but he is stabilized and responding.  CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta said the following:

Infections they otherwise would have been able to fight become more serious.

The former president said he is determined to get better so he can go to Maine this summer.

We're wishing the former president a speedy recovery!
