30th Anniversary UT Tyler Suddenlink Million Dollar Hole in One Begins Saturday
The 30th Anniversary UT Tyler Suddenlink Patriot Million Dollar Hole in One will begin qualifying rounds at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, on the UT Tyler Campus.
Amateur golfers are invited to come out and hit towards the qualifying pin located at the practice soccer fields on campus. Golfers may purchase balls in multiples of five, and select a lane to take their lucky shot. Multiple lanes will be set up for participants to take their aim. For every 25 shots purchased, the golfer will receive 5 additional shots.
Each ball is purchased for $1, and the proceeds benefit scholarships at UT Tyler.
Whether you play golf regularly or just enjoy taking a few practice swings, your lucky shot could pay off. Saturday there will be lots of opportunities to qualify beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until 11 p.m.
To qualify golfers must hit a hole-in-one or be the closest to the pin during the daily qualifying rounds.
Qualifying rounds include opportunities for additional qualifiers at special times. During the Saturday Night Shoot Out on May 7th, a qualifier will be taken each hour from 7-11 p.m.
Monday offers ladies an opportunity to qualify on their own merit. The lady closest to the pin will qualify outside of the traditional qualifier from 4-8 p.m. Ladies will also receive ten free shots for every 25 purchased.
Tuesday night through Thursday night the Patriots will host Corporate Lanes in addition to public hitting lanes. These lanes are purchased by sponsorship in advance of the event, and allow businesses an opportunity to entertain clients and colleagues while enjoying the festivities to determine their finalists.
Friday will again offer many additional opportunities to qualify. Seniors Day qualifying rounds will offer seniors the opportunity to qualify outside of the regular qualifier during two daily rounds beginning at 11 a.m. Seniors will also receive ten free shots for every 25 purchased. Later that night, a qualifier will be taken each hour from 7-11 p.m.
Saturday, May 14, is the final day to qualify to hit for the grand prize. The final qualifying rounds will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m.
Qualifiers will gather at Hollytree Country Club at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday May 15, to take their lone swing at the jackpot, $1,000,000. The green will actually have three holes for the Finals competition. In addition to the Million Dollar Hole, participants could score a Cadillac XT5 from Wagner Cadillac or $25,000 from KLTV.
If no one hits a hole in one, the qualifier who gets closest to the Million Dollar pin will win Six Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Passes. The First Runner-Up will receive a Dream Day of Fishing with Guide Dick Strother at the East Texas Lake of their choice. The Second Runner up will receive a round of golf for four courtesy of Hollytree Country Club. The first person to place a ball inside 2 feet of the Million Dollar pin will receive $500.
